Review: EcoTools Perfecting Blender Duo (Beauty Sponge)

I knew when I started this blog that one thing I wanted to talk about ASAP was EcoTools Perfecting Blender Duo. Do they live up to the hype? How do they compare to a Beauty Blender?

I am not going to lie, I definitely sought out the EcoTools Sponges because of all the hype I read about them. I needed to know if people were really reaching for these over a Beauty Blender.

If you know me and have ever talked to me about makeup then I have probably raved to you about Beauty Blenders. The Black Beauty Blender Pro is my favorite. I even have 6 unopened ones that I stocked up on when they were on sale.

I always use my Beauty Blender damp so that is how I put the EcoTools Sponges to the test. If you are looking for the TL;DR review, these sponges are freaking amazing! Honestly, since I have had them I have not reached for a Beauty Blender once. I love that there are 2 different sizes and each has a somewhat flat spot on it. The smaller sponge is way more user friendly than the Micro Beauty Blenders. I have been using the smaller sized one for blending out concealer, cream contour, and cream highlight. It works perfectly! I use the larger sized one for foundation and for baking. The EcoTools Sponges feel so nice and because there is more surface area to them they do blending jobs a bit faster than Beauty Blenders in my experience. If you are interested, here is the official information from the EcoTools Website:

The PERFECTING BLENDER DUO is designed with EcoFoam® Technology in two sizes and densities to create a camera ready look. The Large Base Blender is soft and flexible to create light, buildable makeup application. The Mini Detail Blender is firmer for more precise and detailed coverage.

Look and Live Beautifully with the unique EcoFoam Technology made of 70% plant based materials.

Use sponge wet or dry. When using wet, squeeze excess water until damp. Apply makeup in a “stippling” or “bouncing” motion to blend product into skin.

  1. Flat surface to apply product on large surface areas
  2. Round base to seamlessly blend lines
  3. Wedge-like tip to guide precise straight lines
Care Tips And Tricks
Extend the life of your sponge, and get rid of bacteria by cleansing sponge weekly.

1. Submerge the sponge under running water.
2. Remove sponge from water and add  a few drops of the EcoTools® Brush Shampoo.
3. Squeeze sponge repeatedly until soap begins to lather. Continue to squeeze, but do not pinch or rub to avoid rips.
4. Rinse under water, continuing to squeeze to remove suds.
5. Under clean water, rinse sponge to remove sponge and makeup buildup. If buildup is still present, repeat steps 1-5.
6. Squeeze out extra water with towel and lay flat to dry.

What is your favorite beauty sponge?
